Bonofiglio Leads Offense In Doubleheader Split

FRANKLIN, Ind. – Spencer Bonofiglio went 5-for-10 with two doubles, a homerun and two runs batted in, and Ben Gehan and Shane Lindemann produced two RBI apiece in the nightcap as Albion College gained a split of its Saturday doubleheader at Franklin College.

Franklin rallied for a 3-2 win in 10 innings in game one. Albion was an 8-3 winner in game two.

Game One

Michael Fischbach powered Albion to the lead with a two-run homerun in the eighth, but Albion was not able to close the game.

Tanner Nicholson scored the tying run for Franklin in the ninth. He drew a leadoff walk and scored on Jackson Freed's single with one out. Franklin tried to push the winning run across, but Fischbach threw out Jordan Clark who was trying to tag up on a fly ball.

Nick Brems was hit by a pitch to leadoff Franklin's 10th inning. He scored the winning run on Nicholson's sacrifice fly.

Albion pitchers Craig Conway and Andrew Fabry combined to strike out nine. Fabry threw 4.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and a walk.

Game Two

Zach Maresh gave Albion a quality start on the mound, yielding a run on two hits and five walks over 6.2 innings.

Lindemann produced RBI singles in the first and fourth. Gehan hit a two-run double in the fourth. Bonofiglio hit a homerun in the sixth and added a RBI single in the seventh. Fischbach laced a RBI double in the seventh.

On Deck

Albion will drive to central Florida for five games during spring break. The Britons take the field in Auburndale, Fla., against Central (Iowa) College Monday afternoon.
