Sunday Sweep

ALBION, Mich. – Michael Fischbach delivered a walk off home run, Ronnie Williams III drove in four runs on the day and Shane Lindemann and Steven Marowski drove in two runs apiece in the nightcap as Albion College swept a Sunday baseball doubleheader from Olivet College by scores of 13-12 and 12-6 at Frank Joranko Field.

Game One

Albion took advantage of three errors to score eight times in the second inning. Chase Carpenter and Justin Dennis hit sacrifice flies, Lindemann drew a bases loaded walk, Marowski drove in a run on a fielder's choice, Mitch Lasceski hit a two-run double and Ronnie Williams III added a RBI single.

Olivet responded by scoring twice in the third and adding four-run innings in the fourth and sixth to take a 12-10 lead.

Kyle Kowal drove in the tying run in the sixth with a sacrifice fly to score Lasceski.

Fischbach sent a home run over the left field fence to win the game for the Britons. His fifth home run of the season gave him 40 RBI, second-most in a season at Albion.

Gunnar Owens (3-0) picked up the win in relief.

Game Two

Albion forged a 3-3 tie in the third and took the lead for good with a four-run fourth. The Britons added a run in the fifth and four more in the sixth.

Jack Wyman (3-4) fell two outs shy of a complete game. He allowed five runs on six hits and five walks over 6.1 innings. Wyman helped his cause with two hits, including a double, a RBI and two runs.

Williams was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI.

Next Up

Albion is scheduled to play a non-league game at Heidelberg University at 4 p.m. tomorrow. The Britons final home doubleheader of the season is a 2 p.m. Friday date with MIAA rival Alma College.
