Fischbach Attacks School Records

HOLLAND, Mich. – Center fielder Michael Fischbach went 3-for-7 with two doubles, a triple and a run batted in and Kyle Kowal collected two hits and drew two walks to lead the offense for the Albion College baseball team Saturday.

Albion collected 10 hits all day in 12-3 and 10-2 losses to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Hope College. The losses leave Albion 14-16 overall and 8-12 in league games.

Fischbach has 16 doubles on the season, passing Brad Brown (1995) for the single-season school record. Fischbach has 35 RBI, moving him into a tie with Derek Tracy (2007) and Nate Keskes (1999) for fourth-most in a single season at Albion.

Game One

Hope took advantage of two Albion errors to score four unearned runs in the second inning. Ryan Konkle's three-run homerun powered Hope to a six-run fifth.

Fischbach tripled to leadoff the fourth. Steven Marowski brought him home with a sacrifice fly.

Fischbach produced a RBI on a sixth-inning groundout. Kowal scored later in the inning.

Game Two

Starting pitcher Jack Wyman retired the first 12 batters he faced and Hope picked up its first hit on a single by Landon Brower with two out in the fifth.

Albion led 2-0 after 5 ½ innings. Kowal produced a RBI single in the fifth and Fischbach doubled, stole third and scored an unearned run in the sixth.

Devin Schaefers produced three RBI on a pair of singles as Hope scored 10 times in the sixth inning.

On Deck

Weather permitting, Albion will make the short drive to Spring Arbor Wednesday for a non-league game. The first pitch is set for 4 p.m.
