ALBION, Mich. – Shane Lindemann, Kyle Kowal, and Michael Fischbach hit RBI singles in the sixth inning to lift Albion College to a 6-3 victory over Hope College in the first game of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association baseball doubleheader at Frank Joranko Field Friday afternoon.

The Britons were forced to settle for a split after losing game two, 19-2.

Albion was clinging to a 3-2 lead in the sixth inning of game one when Hope loaded the bases with one out. The Britons summoned Gunnar Owens from the bullpen and he got JP Batts to fly out to left field. The Flying Dutchmen scored the tying run across when Brady VanderWeele was hit by a 1-2 pitch. Owens got Devin Schaefers to strikeout to get out of the jame.

Albion scored its runs in the sixth with two-out singles.

Owens (2-0) walked leadoff Tyler Gulick in the seventh, but he was erased when Luke Brower grounded into a double play.

Lindemann went 4-for-4 and Mitch Lasceski collected two hits in the game. Jack Wyman drove in two runs.

Hope's first 12 batters reached base in game two as the Flying Dutchmen scored 12 times in the first inning and coasted to the victory.

Fischbach slugged his 14th double of the year and drove in a run in game two. He is a double shy of tying Brad Brown for the single-season school record and his 34 RBI ties him for fifth most in a season.

Albion and Hope will complete the weekend series at 1 p.m. Saturday with a doubleheader at Boeve Stadium in Holland, Mich.
