Albion Scores Opening Day Win

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Craig Conway allowed two runs over seven innings, and Michael Fischbach and Steven Marowski drove in two runs apiece to power Albion College to an 8-2 victory over Principia (Ill.) College at Lake Myrtle Park Monday afternoon.

Mitch Lasceski coaxed a bases-loaded walk in the third and Albion broke the game open with a six-run uprising in the sixth. Fischbach delivered a two-run single, Justin Dennis singled to push a run across and Marowski drove in a run when he reached on an error in the sixth.

Conway, who issued five walks, wiggled out of some jams. A line drive to shortstop Jordan Fujaraski turned into an inning-ending double play in the third. Principia also stranded a pair of runners in the fifth and sixth.

"Craig had to sit through a lot of long innings with pitching changes," Albion Head Coach Scott Carden said. "It finally took its toll on him in the seventh."

Zach Maresh struck out three as he pitched the final two innings in relief.

Fischbach and Shane Lindemann finished with two hits apiece.

Albion returns to Lake Myrtle Park Tuesday for a 12:30 game against Thomas More College.
