Two Britons honored as MIAA Athletes of the Week

Two Albion College student-athletes were named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Athletes of the Week in their respective sports for the week of Jan 5-11, Sheila Morrigan, the MIAA’s director of media relations, announced Monday afternoon.

Emily Bernas, a senior guard from Waterford, Mich., earned the honor in women's basketball, scoring a total of 33 points as the Britons defeated Adrian, 65-47, Jan. 8 and Olivet, 98-70, Jan .11. It was her bucket early in the third quarter of the Olivet game that allowed Bernas to become just the 10th female player to reach the 1,000-point milestone in school history.

Kejuan Frazier, a junior from Augusta, Ga., was honored in men's track and field when he threw the shot put 53 feet, 10 3/4 inches Jan. 10 in the Bob Eubanks Open at Grand Valley State in Allendale. That throw was the third-longest in NCAA Division III track & field so far this season.
