Cassie Vince, cross country

Cassie Vance, a senior cross country runner from Amherst, Ohio, was selected as the Britons Female Athlete of the Week at the Sept. 10 meeting of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

She was honored as the Division III Female Athlete of the Week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association and the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Female Runner of the Week after running at the front of the pack against Division I competition in the University of Detroit Mercy Invitational. Vince was the first runner to reach the finish, crossing the line of the 5K race in 17:46.1. It was the fastest winning time on the course since 2009 and the eighth fastest performance ever for the 32nd annual running of the meet.

Other nominees included women’s soccer goalkeeper Megan Bricely and volleyball middle blocker Taylor Rosenthal.
